Awareness Session on National Single Window

A presentation on the National Single Window project was held at the MCCI on Friday 8 May 2015. The objective was to present to our Members and other stakeholders the main features of the National Single Window project, which will enhance trade facilitation by providing for the online processing and approval of import and export permits.

The presentation was made by the Project Manager for the National Single Window project, Mr. C.Dabeesing, Section Head, MRA Customs. In his presentation, he gave a progress update on the status of the project and highlighted the various benefits of the Single Window for the trading community in Mauritius including the reduced costs of doing business, lower processing times, greater transparency and accountability amongst others. The project will be implemented in phases and it will be the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, which will be the first agency that will be connected to the electronic platform.

Mr. Ian Thomas, Consultant from the World Customs Organisation, who is working on the project, as well as high-officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and the Ministry of Commerce were also present to answer questions from the operators present.
