The MCCI Arbitration and Mediation Center (MARC) has great pleasure in inviting you to an eye-opening conference on Efficiency in Arbitration Proceedings to be held at Le Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel on Wednesday 12 July 2017, from 9h - 13h.
The MARC Conference 2017 on Efficiency in Arbitration Proceedings is aimed at providing arbitrators, lawyers and operators with an insight on how to control time and costs effectively when involved in arbitration proceedings.
The Keynote Speaker is Mr. Neil Kaplan, CBE QC SBS, President of the MARC Court. Mr. Kaplan has been a full-time practicing arbitrator since 1995. During this period he has been involved in numerous arbitrations as co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator or chairman. Mr. Kaplan has also presided over ad hoc arbitrations as well as bilateral investment treaty cases administered by the PCA. Called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1965, Mr. Kaplan has practiced as a barrister, Principal Crown Counsel at the Hong Kong Attorney General’s Chambers and served as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong in charge of the Construction and Arbitration List. In June 2001 Mr. Kaplan was awarded a CBE for services to international arbitration. In 2007 he was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR.
This conference aims at promoting ever better conditions for the sound practice of arbitration by involving into the debate not only practitioners but also the prime users of the service, the business operators themselves. The aim is to build a better range of ADR services, more in synch with the needs of the users while mindful of the constraints of practitioners.
The conference is aimed at lawyers, arbitrators, finance executives, CEOs as well as students, and academics.
We invite you to register for the conference by submitting the registration form here or by contacting Mrs. Khadeejah Nobeebux at knobeebux@mcci.org by 6 July 2017.
