Business updates

The MCCI organized a half-day workshop on the theme: “Addressing Financial Challenges faced by SMEs” on Friday 15th July 2016. The event took place in the conference room of the MCCI in Port Louis. This workshop is the second one organized under the MCCI SME Marketplace project. Its objective was to provide guidance to SMEs on the financial challenges they face in their day to day business. Around 40 participants from various sectors attended the workshop. The themes covered included: Understanding banking requirements before/whilst applying for a business loan; Use of Technology to facilitate processes and Personal Financial Planning- Protecting Capital and Income.

The speakers for this workshop were: Mr. Hemant Kishore Ramkhelawon, Ag Head of SME Banking from Maubank Ltd; Mr. Sooryanand Kurrumchand, CEO of Crains Technologies Ltd and Mr Cader Jaunbocus, Senior Financial Advisor of VFS International Ltd. The participants were given an overview of banking procedures and requirements needed to obtain financing by Maubank Ltd while Crains Technologies spoke about the use of technology to facilitate processes like accounting. In the third part of the workshop, VFS International Ltd explained to participants the importance of separating personal and business income and expenditure as well as managing risks through appropriate initiatives.
