Business updates

A delegation from the China-Africa Legal Research Institute met with the MARC Team to exchange on potential cooperation on joint training projects and events. The meeting was held on Friday 30 November 2018, at the MCCI, in Port Louis. 

Members of the delegation consisted of Prof. Wan Meng, President of the China- Africa Legal Research Institute, Founding President and Professor of the Law School of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and Secretary- General of the China Research Center for Legal Diplomacy; Dr. Gu Zhaomin, Chief Consultant of the China- Africa Legal Research Institute, Vice President of the Council of the China Research Center for Legal Diplomacy, and Vice President of the China Smart Ocean Academy; and Ms. Zhou Yu, Director of International Cooperation, the Denton’s Kunming Office, Professor of Yunnan University Law School.

The MARC Team gave a presentation on how MARC could better assist Chinese and African parties by providing arbitration and mediation services to disputes arising from the Belt and Road Initiative. 

The MARC Team also participated on the same day in an event organised by the Mauritius Bar Association on the occasion of the visit of the delegation.
