His Excellency (HE), Henry V. Jardine, Ambassador of the United States to Mauritius, paid a courtesy call to the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) yesterday 18 September 2023. Accompanied by Mrs. Catherine Volman, Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy, Ambassador Jardine engaged in insightful discussions with key representatives of MCCI.

The visitors were warmly received by Mrs. Namita Jagarnath Hardowar, President of MCCI, Mr. Charles Harel, Vice-President of MCCI, and Dr Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Secretary General of MCCI.

Exchanges were around the consolidation of commercial ties between the U.S. and Mauritius, also discussing areas of collaboration from the private sector's perspective.

One of the pivotal topics of conversation enhancing of trade and commerce between the US and Mauritius.

The Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) between the two nations also featured in the discussions, as potential avenues for trade relations were explored.

Furthermore, both parties deliberated on the possibility of collaboration between American universities and the MCCI Business School, particularly in the realms of capacity building, training, and skill development.

This envisioned partnership holds great potential for empowering the Mauritian workforce and fostering international academic connections.

Ambassador Henry Jardine inquired about ways he could facilitate exchanges and linkages with the U.S. business community and both parties expressed their commitment to exploring these issues further and working collaboratively to bridge this gap.

The MCCI looks forward to future engagements aimed at fostering economic growth, strengthening trade relations, and promoting mutually beneficial collaborations between the two nations.
