The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) hosted an Emirati delegation on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, led by His Excellency (H.E.) Humaid Mohamed Ben Salem, Secretary General of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and former parliamentarian (2012-2016).
The delegation included representatives from major organisations: ADNOC Global Trading, the commercial arm of the national oil giant; Presight, a leading AI company represented by its Vice-President Sheikh Muhammad Shameen Hosenbocus and a team of senior executives; Etihad Airways; and Farm to Plate, a recognised player in the agro-industry sector.
Some 20 MCCI members representing banking, finance, industry, ICT, services, and renewable energy sectors, amongst others, attended the meeting, providing networking opportunities with the UAE delegation.
"This gathering holds special significance - bringing together business leaders from one of the world's most dynamic economies, the UAE, which stands as a global economic powerhouse," stated the President of the MCCI, Mr. Charles Harel. "Let us use today's discussions to build concrete business partnerships that serve both our nations."
The programme, developed following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Mauritius in July 2024, included meetings with eight key ministries: Prime Minister's Office, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Information Technology, Industry, and Land Transport.
During the discussions, both parties explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations, which is expected to be finalised later this year.
The MCCI, celebrating its 175th anniversary, continues to serve as a key facilitator of regional and international business relations.
"These exchanges create tangible opportunities for Mauritian businesses," stated Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Secretary General of the MCCI. "Our goal is to transform these dialogues into lasting partnerships, positioning Mauritius as a preferred platform for expansion in Asia and Africa."
