A training session on the Trade Obstacles Alert Mechanism (TOAM) was organised by the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade and the International Trade Centre, to different ministries (National Agency Focal Points) involved in resolving trade obstacles on the TOAM platform. This exercise was carried out at the MCCI office, in Port-Louis, on Wednesday 28 September 2022.
The TOAM is an interactive platform designed to facilitate the monitoring and elimination of trade obstacles encountered by Mauritian trade operators. This web-based platform allows trade operators to report obstacles they face when exporting or importing their products.
The Secretary General of the MCCI, Dr. Yousouf Ismaël, welcomed the representatives from the different Ministries and government agencies and highlighted their important role in the resolution of the reported trade obstacles. Mrs. Butonkee, Senior Trade Policy Analyst of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration & International Trade, gave a background on TOAM and seized this opportunity to discuss the inter-agency cooperation protocol signed by the different ministries in 2015 as part of the implementation of the project.
Mr. Vianney Lesaffre, Market Analyst from the International Trade Centre, made a presentation on new features of the TOAM website and the complementary mobile application to be launched on Thursday 29 September 2022.
