The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) participated in the 7th Annual SADC Industrialisation Week (SIW) held in Harare, Zimbabwe from 28 July to 2 August.
The event consisted of various sessions, panel discussions and conferences, all under the central theme "Fostering Innovation to Unlock Opportunities for Sustainable Economic Growth and Development towards an Industrialised SADC".
The six-day programme covered several aspects of the theme around the industrial opportunities open to countries in the SADC region and concluded with a series of factory visits.
Representing the MCCI, Dr Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Secretary General, intervened on several discussion panels, including one about the involvement of Special Economic Zones to support industrial growth and another that tackled strategies for the future of trade services in the SADC region.
Dr. Ramdenee also underlined how strategic industrial linkages and trade efficiencies can be achieved through the AfCFTA framework.
The SIW brought together more than 2000 stakeholders from the 16 member states of the SADC region to create a platform for fruitful discussions on sustainable industrial innovation.
