On Friday 4 October 2024, Mrs. Catherine Bauwens, Economic and Commercial Counsellor at the Wallonia Brussels Trade Commission, a division of the Embassy of Belgium paid a courtesy visit to the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
The meeting convened members of the MCCI management team, including Secretary General Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee and Mrs. Hansini Bhoobdasur, International Relations and Communications Manager.
Mrs. Bauwens was also accompanied by Mr. Michel Moreau, a representative of the Belgian Chamber of Commerce in South Africa (BCCSA).
Dr. Ramdenee highlighted the avenues of leveraging on strategic trade collaborations between Mauritius and Belgium through the support of MCCI Business Units, educational partnerships with the MCCI Business School as well as global outreach through the MCCI’s global network.
Mrs. Bauwens showcased the potential to harness the technological potential of Mauritius alongside the growing importance of sustainable business practices.
Discussions also focused on numerous opportunities to host joint webinars, B2B meetings and business delegations visits to Mauritius and Belgium.
The MCCI will seek to strengthen and facilitate trade opportunities between Belgium and Mauritius following this meeting.
