Port Development Takes Centre Stage at the Mauritius Maritime Week 2025

MCCI 22 Jan 2025

Addressing over 300 senior maritime executives at the Mauritius Maritime Week 2025, MCCI Secretary General Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee outlined the strategic vision for transforming Mauritius into a leading maritime hub.

The three-day event, held from January 21-23 at The Ravenala Attitude, Port Louis, brought together key stakeholders from East Africa and the Indian Ocean region.

"The port sector stands as a fundamental pillar of our economic growth strategy. By enhancing our transhipment capabilities and digitalising operations, we are positioning Mauritius as a competitive maritime hub in the Indian Ocean," stated Dr. Ramdenee during his keynote address.

The strategic vision presented focused on strengthening maritime services, including ship registration and financing frameworks, while leveraging digital transformation to boost operational efficiency.

These initiatives align with the MCCI's commitment to driving maritime sector growth through active policy engagement and member representation.
