The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) organised a networking dinner with the British High Commission on Thursday 13 February 2025 at La Clef des Champs, Floreal.
The event brought together key representatives from both the UK diplomatic corps and the Mauritian business community, with Mr. Charles Harel and Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee, President and Secretary General of the MCCI respectively, as well as Mr. Goran Mandic, Deputy British High Commissioner, Mr. John Humphrey, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for Africa, and Mrs. Deeptee K. Bungaree-Gooheeram, Country Director, Department for Business and Trade, in attendance.
The dinner gathered some 20 business leaders representing various sectors of the Mauritian economy, including financial services, technology, architecture, international trade, and banking.
The evening provided a platform for meaningful business discussions and networking opportunities between Mauritian business leaders and UK representatives.
“Tonight's dinner provides an excellent opportunity for our business communities to connect, share experiences, and explore new possibilities for collaboration. In today's rapidly evolving global economy, such personal connections and direct dialogue between business leaders are more valuable than ever,” stated Mr. Charles Harel.
Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Secretary General of the MCCI, highlighted that “beyond mere words, several milestones have been achieved in UK-Mauritius business relations, including new initiatives in pharmaceuticals, green economy, and education sectors.”
This networking event follows the October 2023 agreement between the MCCI and the British High Commission to establish a Joint Business Council, aimed at strengthening trade and investment relations between both countries.
