Business updates

The President of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Mr Guillaume Hugnin, the Vice-President, Mrs. Namita Jagarnath Hardowar and the Secretary General, Dr Yousouf Ismaël paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency, Dr HN Manzini, High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, on Tuesday31^st August 2021.

Discussions focused on the consolidation of relations between the business communities of both countries. It is to be recalled that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in September 2016 between the MCCI and the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) with the objective of expanding business ties between the two countries. In the course of the discussions, it was proposed that a business forum be organized so as to facilitate networking and sharing of information within the business communities.

It was also highlighted that the MCCI and the South African private sector organisations, being members of the Association of SADC Chambers of Commerce and Industry, of the SADC Business Council and of the Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum, are already collaborating on a number of projects at regional level.
