The MCCI is working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection for the distribution of essential goods during lockdown. The announcement was made by Hon. Yogida Sawmynaden at a press conference held on 25 March 2020.
Several meetings have been held at the MCCI with Honourable Yogida Sawmynaden to discuss issues relating to supply and distribution of essential goods and services during the lockdown period. The meetings were led by Dr. Yousouf Ismaël, Secretary-General Designate and included importers, distributors and supermarkets. Operators in the retail, food distribution, food manufacturing and logistics sectors had the opportunity to discuss a number of practical issues namely regarding the work access permits, security of staff and customers, Police security and communication to the public.
