At a meeting held on 28 August 2023 between representatives of the MCCI and of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in New Delhi, discussions focused on future areas of collaboration between the two organisations particularly with regards to the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement (CECPA) signed between Mauritius and India on 22 February 2021 and which came into force on 1 April 2021.
The delegation from MCCI was led by the President, Mrs Namita Jagarnath Hardowar and comprised Mr Azim Currimjee, the President of the Mauritius-India Joint Business Council, and the Secretary-General, Dr Drishtysingh Ramdenee.
FICCI Secretary-General, Mr Shailesh Pathak, who chaired the meeting, recalled the excellent relations which exist between the two organizations since 1985.
The President of the MCCI, Mrs Namita Jagarnath Hardowar, expressed the wish that the business communities of both countries deepen their relations in the context of the developments taking place at bilateral level.
Both parties highlighted the role played by Chambers of Commerce as business facilitators and reiterated their commitment to enhance cooperation between India and Mauritius.
In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding which provides for new areas of collaboration such as consultancy and advisory services, research and marketing in areas of mutual interest was signed by Dr Drishtysingh Ramdenee, Secretary-General of the MCCI and Mr. Sailesh Pathak, Secretary-General of FICCI.
