The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce & Industry held an online information session on extension of sugar tax on non-staple sweetened products, for its Members, on Tuesday 22nd February 2022. The implementation procedures were explained to operators by representatives of MRA Customs.

This information session was being carried out following the publication of a communiqué on the extension of sugar tax on non-staple sweetened products as from the 1st July 2022. This will be applicable on products such as sugar confectionary, chocolates, biscuits, cereals, fruit jams and ice-cream.
