The Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Secretary General, Dr. Drishtysingh Ramdenee, along with MCCI management and members, welcomed a high-level business delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at its Port Louis headquarters today 14 February 2025.

Led by Mr. Ramesh Mutha, Chairman & Managing Director of Mohan Mutha Exports, the delegation represented diverse sectors including pharmaceuticals (Dr. Reddy's Laboratories), telecommunications (TCIL), warehousing and logistics (Anand Warehouse), software solutions (Nucleus Software), environmental services (Enviro Recyclean), and tourism (Bennys Royal Tours).

Dr. Ramdenee emphasised: “Trade between Mauritius and India reached Rs 34 billion in 2024, with significant opportunities in sectors like pharmaceuticals, ICT, and financial services.

As the oldest representative of the private sector in Mauritius, the MCCI is committed to strengthening these trade ties through our longstanding partnership with CII. Our Joint Business Council with CII has been instrumental in facilitating business exchanges, and we look forward to expanding this collaboration, particularly in emerging sectors and Africa-focused initiatives.”

"The discussions today have reinforced our conviction that there are numerous opportunities for Indian and Mauritian businesses to work together and create mutual value", said Mr. Ramesh Mutha.

Mr. Aditya Ghosh, Director - International (Africa) at CII, extended a special invitation: “We would be delighted to have Mauritius participate in the upcoming CII Conclave on India-Africa Growth Partnership. This platform has been instrumental in fostering Indo-African business ties, and Mauritius's unique position makes it an invaluable partner in this dialogue.”

The visit included focused discussions on opportunities in pharmaceuticals, ICT, and renewable energy, with several delegates expressing interest in exploring Mauritius as a regional headquarters for their African operations.
