More than 175 nationalities have made purchases tax free in a Tax Refund shop in 2017. With a 0.5% increase in tourist arrivals, France takes the lead in tax refund share with a 22.4% share. China, which topped the list for 3 years running, has declined to the second position with a share of 20.8%. This is mainly due to a drop of 8.1% in Chinese tourist arrivals in 2017 compared to 2016.

The Top Five country ranking is given in the table below. India and South Africa improved their shares with the latter climbing two places. United Kingdom, which ranked fourth in 2016, lost three places to 7^th place in 2017.
