Business updates

Total merchandise trade for the first quarter 2022, excluding ships’ stores and bunkers amounted to MUR 79 billion, 34% higher than the value of MUR 59 billion of the corresponding quarter of 2021.

For the first quarter of 2022, total exports was valued at MUR 17.6 billion, 18% more compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021 whereas total imports was valued at MUR 61.9 billion, indicating an increase of 40% when compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021.

Our top export markets include South Africa (14%), France (9%), UK (9%), Madagascar (9%) and USA (9%) amongst others and our top suppliers are China (17%), South Africa (12%), UAE (11%), India (7%) and France (5%), amongst others.
