The Ambassador of Mexico to Mauritius, H. E. Sara Valdes Bolano, paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Namita Jagarnath Hardowar and to Dr Drishtysingh Ramdenee, President and Secretary-General of the MCCI respectively on 6 September 2023.
Discussions focused on the collaboration of the businesspeople of both countries.
Ambassador Valdes Bolano expressed the wish that the MCCI and the Mexican Business Coordinating Council, the apex body of the private sector in Mexico, work closely so that there could be more exchanges of information and data regarding business development.
Speaking about the trade relations between the two countries, the President of the MCCI, Mrs. Namita Jagarnath Hardowar was of the view that further opportunities could be explored.In 2022, exports of goods to Mexico amounted to USD 1.4 million and included mainly frozen fish (re-exported) and garments. During the same year, imports from Mexico amounted to USD 8.2 million and included mainly vehicles, electrical machinery and equipment, medical instruments and appliances, machinery and mechanical appliances.
She also spoke about the movement of persons and highlighted the issue of visa of entry to Mexico. She expressed the wish that the visa facilities can be extended to businesspeople travelling from Mauritius to Mexico.
Both parties agreed that discussions relating to the consolidation of business ties should be pursued as there are many opportunities which can be developed between Mexico and Mauritius.
