The Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency (AWEX) organised a business mission in the Indian Ocean region, and in this context, visited Mauritius from 23th to 25th May 2019. The mission was led by Mr. Dominique Delattre, Director, Middle East and Africa, of AWEX.
Mauritian operators had the opportunity to meet up with the Belgian delegates on Business Forum held today, Friday 24 May 2019, at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, whereby the MCCI was also invited.
In her speech, Ms. Faeeza Ibrahimsah, Manager of the Communications and Promotion division of the MCCI, highlighted the different benefits that can be exploited by Belgian operators in and through the numerous trade agreements in Mauritius, towards the African region. From the Economic Development Board, Mr. Arvind Radhakrishna, Head of Global Outreach, put forward the investment schemes available and the different sectors that can be of interest to the Belgian operators.
Ambassador Mrs. U. C. Dwarka Canabady, Secretary for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius, clearly explained that Mauritius is the ideal hub for European operators to touch both the African and Asian markets.
The Ambassador of Belgium to Mauritius, HE Peter Van Acker, was also present on this occasion and expressed the wish that both Mauritian and Belgian operators avail themselves of the opportunities present during the Business Forum to build and further develop their business ties.
