The Trade Preferences Extension Act of 2015 which includes the 10-year extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) and the ‘Third Country Fabric Derogation’ has been voted by the House of Representatives on 25th June 2015. The Bill will now go to the White House for the President's signature after which it will become law.
It should be noted that in 2014, total exports from Mauritius to the United States amounted to Rs. 8.5 billion with textiles and clothing representing 75% of total exports to the US.
