A number of products are subject to import control as per the Consumer Protection (Control of Imports) Regulations 2017. Import control is carried out mainly for health and security reasons as well as for protecting the environment and national interest.

Clearance from the Agricultural Marketing Board is required for the following products prior to import:
(i) Dry whole onions
