Registration of business – one day
Businesses in Mauritius are registered under the Business Registration Act 2002 with the process generally taking half a day. The law applies to any person carrying out business in Mauritius and Rodrigues. The registration can be completed online (following similar steps as for the incorporation of a company) or by submitting the required documents at the office of the Registrar of Companies. The guidelines for incorporation of a company and registration of a business outlines the steps to be taken for business registration.

- The general nature of business and its location
- Date or proposed date of commencement of business
- Contact details of applicant
Registration fee:
A registration fee has to be paid only by those who register as ‘individuals’ and have not incorporated a company, commercial partnership or ‘societé’. The fees are based on the workforce of the business and are as follows:
- Not more than 10 persons: MUR 125
- Between 11 and 50 persons: MUR 250
- Between 51 and 100 persons: MUR 600
- CAbove 100 persons: MUR 1,500ontact details of applicant
Upon registration of the business, the CBRD will issue an electronic Business Registration Card. The operator can collect the hardcopy of the Business Registration Card at the counter of the CBRD.
