The COMESA Business Council met in Kampala, Uganda on 19-20 July 2010 to discuss the rules of origin to be applied in the context of the Tripartite Free Trade Area (FTA) to be set up between COMESA, SADC and the EAC.

The objective of the meeting was to provide an open platform for genuine dialogue between the private sector institutions in the COMESA region through sharing of experiences on practical issues relating to application of rules of origin and developing a private sector position on the rules to be applied in the Tripartite FTA for expanding regional trade.

The Chamber was represented at the meeting by Ms. Rooma Narrainen, Manager - Trade Division.
